Can I use my Sky Dish to get Saorview

Jeremy asks;

I already have a sky dish on my house from the last owner. Can I use this satellite dish to get Saorview?

Our answer;

Jeremy, you'd be surprised how many times we get asked that. The answer is a straight forward and resounding NO. You cannot use a sky satellite dish or any other type of dish to get Saorview.

Saorview is a Digital Terrestrial TV system (DTT) and as such must be received using an appropriate TV Aerial. The correct type of aerial for getting Saorview in Ireland is a correctly grouped UHF Aerial or if in a poor reception area or if placing the aerial in your attic, then maybe use a high gain UHF Aerial.

To see what type of UHF Aerial you might need, see our Saorview Coverage Map which is colour coded to indicate what group Aerial you need. A black wideband will suffice in many cases as it covers the whole UHF frequency range but is always best to use the aerial that is best suited to your local transmitter.

The type of aerial we sell that are suitable for receiving saorview are on the right hand side of the page.

BUT WAIT........

You can use you existing sky dish and combine with with the afore mentioned aerial to feed both the satellite tv signal and the digital terrestrial signal into one box. This means one remote, all the free Irish and UK channels and best of all, NO MORE BILLS.

We currently stock two of the leading Combo boxes on the market.

As above, you can get the saorview channels and the Free UK Satellite TV channels in one unit with out having to pay anymore subscription fees.
