Uses of RJ45 Network Cable Tester

This unit is used to test 2 types of cable:
- Telephone phone cable terminated with RJ11's (4 pins)
- CAT5 or CAT6 cable terminated with RJ45's (8 pins)
It is normally used to check a cable that has been manually terminated
Also it can be used to check a cable in a wall
Will work with straight through or crossover cables

How to Use RJ45 Network Cable Tester

Detach the master and remote unit from each other
Plug the jack e.g. RJ45 into the master unit
Plug the other end of the cable into the remote unit
Turn on the master unit by sliding over the switch to either
- ON = Normal test mode
- S = Slow automatic mode
The tester now checks each of the 8 wires one after the other
If wired correctly the sequence on both the master and remote unit will be
- 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
If the cable is wired incorrectly then the sequence on the remote unit will be out of sync
- 1-2-4-3-5-6-7-8
If there is a short, then no light will come on in the remote unit

Purchased this tester to test a network I set up in my home recently and came in very handy to test all the connections.

Purchased as a tester for use with standard cat5 cable and connectors bought on same order.. Snap in a PP3 battery you supply yourself and pop the ends into the plugs..follow the lights.. simple and cheap tester for diy terminations.

Simple well explained device. Essential for anyone doing a DIY Cat5 projects - made troubleshooting novice connections a synch. Can review this with speeds X10 faster than the degraded wifi I had depended on. FreeTv is model of how to do First Class online business especially in lockdown!

Works when testing one end of the cable to another, also works to test if the cable from switch or router is good. Cheap and cheerful and does what its supposed to do. Everybody needs one of these.

The RJ45 Network Cable Tester (CODE: Z9_RJ45-TC_ET) arrived on time with standard courier. The unit was as described and worked without any problems for an RJ45 cable. The instructions are limited and very "chinaenglish", but as the device is not complex this was not a significant issue. First time using FreeTV.ie and I was very impressed with shipment service and prompt response to an email query prior to order.
