USES of RCA to VGA Converter
- Typical use would be for connecting the following equipment
- Satellite Receivers
- DVD Players
- VCRs
- Televisions
- Digital TV Receivers
- Projectors
- Would also work with some older gaming consoles so you can use on modern TVs like below
- Convert Nintendo NES / SNES video / audio output to VGA
- Convert Sony Playstation PS1 / PS2 AV output to VGA
- Convert Sega Mega Drive / Genesis / Dreamcast / Master System audio / video output to VGA
- Note: May need a set of RCA / Phono Couplers depending on gender of original cable you're adapting
- Ideal where you are looking to connect up older AV equipment with RCA outputs to a newer TV or computer monitor with VGA inputs
ADVANTAGES of RCA to VGA Converter
- Used to connect older devices which only have RCA connections to a TV or computer display using one of it's VGA inputs
- Could be used if you have no RCA connections on your TV either
- You can add a 3.5mm audio cable and have to ability to convert picture and sound
DISADVANTAGES of RCA to VGA Converter
- RCA to VGA only gives a passive connection, so turning on a DVD player, for example, will not automatically switch the television to the corresponding AV input
- You need to manually change the source or AV input on the TV to the correct HDMI input
- In most cases, the power from the USB port of your TV or AV equipment should be enough to power the device
- Sometimes though, an external power source will be required and we offer this as an optional purchase
- If you are not sure, we recommend buying the power supply along with the RCA to VGA converter
- As the saying goes, you're better looking at it then looking for it
- This would be needed in the case that your TV doesn't have free USB ports for example
- This RCA to VGA converter cannot work in reverse ie.. VGA to RCA
- Obviously you will not get a full HD quality picture from the VGA output as the source is only RCA
- The adapter only converts & up-scales it
- You cannot magically turn it into a 1080p full HD quality picture
- Never buy RCA to VGA cables. A powered version like this will always work better
