USES of Triax i/O Link
- Used with the new Sky+ HD boxes and Sky HD multi-room boxes
- These boxes no longer have RF2 outlets
ADVANTAGES of Triax i/O Link
- Allows you operate a sky eye to view and control the sky box from another room
- It works very well, in fact it is one of the best designed i/O links on the market
- Has the ability to add on an external power unit for longer runs
- It is neat and compact
DISADVANTAGES of Triax i/O Link
- It would have been much better if sky has simply left an RF2 on all their HD boxes
- Is slightly more expensive than other models but it's extra features and versatility account for this
- The power output level from a Sky I/O port is not as strong as from an RF2 meaning
- Run lengths over which it will work are normally shorter
- It struggles to power link amplifiers to feed multiple rooms
- However, the Triax IO Link suffers this issue far less than competitor models due to the ability to add external power to the unit
How to Install an i/O Link
- Using the Sky HD remote
- Press "Services"
- Press "001" & "select"
- Arrow over to "RF Out"
- From the sub menu choose
- RF Channel Number: 68 (Default)
- RF Outlet Power Supply: ON or OFF (Set to ON)
- Press the "Green Button" to save changes
- Finally insert the I/O link into the port on your sky HD box marked "I/O Port"
Troubleshooting the i/O Link
- No picture on 2nd TV -> RF power outlet is turned off
- Fix by turning on (or if on by turning off and back on)
- Won"t support multiple Sky eyes
- Use a powered distribution amplifier
- Failing this you may need to use a Triax Trilink which has much higher power level
- Won"t work Sky eye
- Make sure cable run is not too long
- Make sure RF power is turned on
- Sky eye LED is flashing
- disconnect the i/O link from the sky box
- power on the sky box (making sure Power out is on)
- reconnect the i/O link
