USES of HDMI Extender

This is a product that has an increasing market driven by a number of factors

  • Max Length: The maximum run you have with a HDMI lead is 20m where this unit allows you achieve far longer with with 1080p resolution
  • Customise: It is not possible to alter the length of a HDMI lead but CAT5e / CAT6 cable can easily be cut to the required length in the field with basic RJ45 connectors, crimping tool & a roll of ethernet cable
  • Pre-Cabled: Often customers wish to put their HD satellite receiver in the a corner unit to feed a flat screen TV hanging over the fire place. Such a set up may have CAT5e / CAT6 cables pre-wired or it may be possible to pull them through.

What will I need to buy that does not come with this kit?

  • You will also clearly need;
    • Ethernet Cable (CAT5e/6 cable terminated with RJ45s)
    • HDMI Cables (To connect to satellite receiver on one end and TV on the other end)
    • You might want a Faceplate back box
    • You many also require a right angled RJ45 adapter depending on the space available

ADVANTAGES of HDMI Extender

  • These units do exactly what they says on the tin
  • Very easy to install - just plug & play
  • Allows you cut the cable to exactly the required length
  • Unlike other models of the HDMI over CAT5 / CAT6 Extender which require two CAT5e/6 cables to be run, this model only requires a single ethernet cable
  • This model supports remote IR control

DISADVANTAGES of HDMI Extender

  • Additional cost is involved
  • A minimum of CAT5e cable is recommended for use with this HDMI extender
  • We recommend using CAT6 to get the best results
