ADVANTAGES of Double Chimney Bracket Set

  • Spreads load better and steadier than a 13 inch chimney bracket

  • Cheapest way of mounting a long mast on a house
  • Unlike TK brackets it does not require a Drill

DISADVANTAGES of Double chimney Bracket set

  • More expensive than a 9 inch or 13 inch chimney bracket
  • Limited offset means that it struggles to pass reveal on any non-standard chimneys
  • More difficult to install than a 9 inch or 13 inch chimney bracket
  • Requires special tools i.e. roof ladder etc to mount bracket on a chimney
  • Roof work is by its nature far more dangerous than working off a standard ladder

Tools needed

  • A ladder
  • Roof ladder
  • Ratchet & 15mm long neck socket
  • Snips
  • Vice grips
  • Safety equipment (harness, safety mat etc)

Equipment needed

  • Chimney bracket (9 inch or 13 inch) with lashing kit
  • Pole (1.8m long, 32mm diameter - steel or aluminium)

Location

  • On a chimney

Steps to Install

  • Position the roof ladder adjacent to the chimney and secure the ladders and put on all safety equipment
  • Ascend the ladder with the tools and equipment
  • Open the lashing kit bag and wrap the end of the wire coil 4 times around the loop on the "J"-bolt
  • Slot the threaded end of the "J"-bolt into the hole in the chimney cradle
  • Wrap the wire coil around the chimney keep as straight as possible
  • Wrap the wire coil 4 times around the loop on the other  "J"-bolt
  • Making sure it is just long enough to slot into the other side of the chimney bracket
  • Cut off excess wire coil
  • Put angle brackets under the wire coil at the other 3 corners of the chimney
  • Use the 15mm socket to tighten the nuts on the "J"-bolts while using the vice grips to clamp the "J"-bolt
  • Insert the U-bolts into the bracket and loosely tighten
