USES of 4K HDMI Extender

This is a product that has an increasing market driven by a number of factors

  • Max Length: The maximum run you have with a HDMI lead is 20m where this unit allows you achieve 50m with 4K resolution
  • Customise: It is not possible to alter the length of a HDMI lead but CAT6 cable can easily be cut to the required length in the field with basic RJ45 connectors, crimping tool & a roll of CAT6 cable
  • Pre-Cabled: Often customers wish to put their HD satellite receiver in the a corner unit to feed a flat screen TV hanging over the fire place. Such a set up may have CAT6 cables pre-wired or it may be possible to pull them through.

What Will I Also Possibly Need?

  • You will also clearly need;
    • Ethernet Cable (CAT6 Cable terminated with RJ45s)
    • HDMI Cables (To connect to satellite receiver on one end and TV on the other end)

ADVANTAGES of 4K HDMI Extender

  • This unit works a treat - does exactly what it says on the tin
  • Very easy to install - just plug & play
  • Allows you cut the cable to exactly the required length
  • Works over a 100m run length
  • This model supports IR for switching channels
  • The IR control is bi-directional and can be swapped around (locally/remotely)
  • Unlike other models of the HDMI over CAT6 Extender which require two CAT6 cables to be run, this model only requires a single CAT6 cable

DISADVANTAGES of 4K HDMI Extender

  • Additional cost is involved
  • CAT6 cables a bit dearer than CAT5 cables but the 4K specification needs better cable to carry the 4K signal
