USES of HDMI Over IP Extender
This is a product that has an increasing market driven by a number of factors
- Max Length: The maximum run you have with a HDMI lead is 20m where this unit allows you achieve 40m with 4K resolution @ 60Hz
- Customise: It is not possible to alter the length of a HDMI lead but CAT6 cable can easily be cut to the required length in the field with basic RJ45 connectors, crimping tool & a roll of CAT5e / CAT6 cable
- Pre-Cabled: Often customers wish to put their HD satellite receiver in the a corner unit to feed a flat screen TV hanging over the fire place. Such a set up may have CAT5e / CAT6 cables pre-wired or it may be possible to pull them through
What Will I Also Possibly Need?
- You will also clearly need;
- Ethernet Cable (Terminated with RJ45s)
- 4K HDMI Cables (To connect to satellite receiver on one end and TV on the other end)
ADVANTAGES of HDMI Over IP Extender
- This unit works a treat - does exactly what it says on the tin
- Very easy to install - just plug & play
- Allows you cut the cable to exactly the required length
- Works over a 40m run length at 4K & 70m at 1080p (60Khz)
- This model supports IR for switching channels
- Unlike our other models, it has a dual HDMI output, so can be run to 2 different HDMI displays
- It is HDCP v2.2 compliant and supports Sky Q
- You only need one power source (on either end) as it supports it's own version of PoE
- Unlike other models of the HDMI over IP Extender which require two cables to be run, this model only requires a single ethernet cable
DISADVANTAGES of HDMI Over IP Extender
- This is one of our more expensive HDMI Over IP Extenders but it's specifications are un-matched in the current market
- CAT5e / CAT6 cables a bit dearer than CAT5 cables but the 4K specification needs better cable to carry the 4K signal
- The specs of this HDMI extender may be too much for many jobs
