ADVANTAGES of External DVD Drive
- A lot of modern laptops do not come with an optical drive for CDs and/or DVDs
- This can be a problem if software you are trying to install is on a CD or DVD
- In some circumstances, an external CD / DVD drive is the only solution
- This can be especially true with legacy software or obscure drivers that cannot be found online
DISADVANTAGES of External DVD Drive
- Any external drive will not be as fast as an internal drive
- This is just the nature of the beast and a product of connectivity standards
