USES of Satellite Finder

  • For aligning satellite dish to pick up a satellite signal
    • for the Astra 2 (BBC, ITV), Hotbird (Polish), Astra 1 (German, French)

ADVANTAGES of Satellite Finder

  • Inexpensive and handy tool for aligning a satellite dish
  • A satellite finder removes the need to have a second person when aligning the dish

DISADVANTAGES of Satellite Finder

  • Will not tell you which satellite you are receiving signal from
  • Takes far more time to align than with a professional satellite finder
  • Can only be used with satellite dishes - can not align a UHF aerial
  • Will not work with wideband LNBs

PROCEDURE for Using Satellite Meter

  1. Connect the meter lead from the Satellite LNB to the "To LNB" Connection on the satellite finder
  2. Connect the satellite cable coming from the satellite receiver to the "To Rec" input on the satellite finder
  3. Make sure your satellite receiver is on. The satellite Meter LED should be on (powered by the satellite receiver) and give a reading of around 2.
  4. Set the satellite dish to roughly the correct angle and direction e.g. Astra 2 satellite is found at 21 degrees elevation and 141 degrees on the compass (slight variation depending on what part of Ireland you are in).
  5. Set the satellite finder"s scale to reading to about 5 by adjusting the control level found on the face of the satellite dish (clockwise turning with increase the reading)
  6. Peak the signal by slowly turning the elevation and direction of the dish. If the satellite meter reading tops the scale reduce the reading to 5 (by adjusting the level control) and continue to adjust until peak position is found.
  7. Verify on the satellite receiver that you have tuned the satellite dish to the correct satellite by switching to / tuning in a channel e.g. BBC 1 on the Astra 2 satellite.
  8. Remove the meter lead and satellite finder and connect the LNB to the satellite cable coming from your dish.

Absolutely top class. Advice sought prior to purchase and info supplied helped no end. A previous purchase earlier in the week consisting of 39 items was delivered next day and perfect.
If installing a DIY dish for yourself be sure and buy this item, it is just priceless when it comes to locating the Satellite.

Roughly Set up dish using the compass on my smart phone. Aligned the dish perfectly then, in less then 5 mns, using the sat finder.

Ive been purchasing from FreeTv for the past couple of years. Im a diy'er and enjoy installing systems about the house when I have the time. My technical knowledge may not always be the best. When I do get stumped I get in touch with FreeTv who have always helped out in any way they can.

I found the satellite finder quite easy to use, once you have tweeked the meter to about mid level. There was a tiny bit of insulation still attached to one end of the supplied cable, which blocked the satellite signal, but once removed all was OK. Just something to watch for. Overall, I was totally happy with the achieved results.
