USES of DC Extension Cables
- Allows you extend the length of a power cable that uses a 5.5 x 2.1mm DC jack
- Commonly used with 12Vdc power supplies
- Would also work with 5.5 x 2.5mm DC jacks
- Commonly used with 5Vdc power supplies
- Would also work with 24Vdc power units that use 5.5 x 2.1mm / 2.5mm DC plugs
- Could also work with 5 Volt power adapters that use 5.5 x 2.1mm / 2.5mm DC plugs
- Widely used in the CCTV industry
ADVANTAGES of DC Extension Cables
- Simpler way of extending your DC run than using CAT5 / CAT6 baluns
- Would be ideal for smaller jobs or perhaps would suit DIYers more than using baluns
- From our experience, 5m DC extension leads cover most peoples needs
DISADVANTAGES of DC Extension Cables
- More expensive than using baluns especially on large jobs
- The length of the extension run is limited
